Fortune factory for people from and for NOB
The pursuit of fortune is a lifelong topic for many people.

Factory
In Signature Fortune, interested inhabitants of NOB deal with questions and storys concerning the topic fortune in a workshop.There will be encounters with Fortune researchers who had come specifically. We ask many fortune specialists from the district to exchange their knowledge their strategies and their experiences of their personal fortune. Doing so, people tell stories. This are stories of every-day-live in which they talk about the fortune and the experiences, including lodging and living together in NOB.
The stories are written in the many languages in which they are thought and they have the personal signature of their authors. Here, the multitude of the districts’s languages due to the different ethnic groups living in the quater and the expereinces of the different generations become evident. The inhabitants derive common notion from the stories which result in a personal quintessence
in fortune experience.
Little Fortune Library
In the fortune factory, the inhabitants collect books concerning the topic of fortune which will be placed in a mobile library showcase during the realisation of the project in different semi-public places in NOB in order to be used by different groups of people. The stories about fortune will wander around together with the library. The first station will be the BüNo.
Fortune Specialists
Some fortune researchers from NOB are ready to support us in the artistic process with the inhabitants. For example, the laugh-artist Rudolph Straubinger (WAL) will give a course in laughing. Mrs. Görtz from the local residency community Olga will present her large book collection about fortune. The social scientist Prof. Wolf Walter from Berlin will give his lecture „Happiness and Contentment“. The historian Peter Zinke will report about important events and everyday life with contemporary witnesses from NOB. More fortune specialists are invited to make a contribution. The social institutions and places of smaller communitys in NOB will be usable for the fortune factory.
A Personal Signature of the Place
In a democtratic procedure in which every single citizen can vote, 33 notions of fortune are selected from the stories. The words in handwriting will be lasered from stainless steel and be shown on the faces of buildings in the housing area. The places, too, are selected in cooperation with the artists of fortune, the citizens. Thus, the inhabitants of NOB have the chance to take part in the creation of their surroundings and to give their location their personal signature. The signatures that are visible in the streets become art.
Arrangement
The decentrally dispersed access to the signatures follows up the existing form of the gate’s sculptures. This sculptures, too, show in their small form and in their thematic singularity on the locations in which they are placed, qualities connected with fortune. The sizes of the planned signatures, which will only be about twenty centimetres, shall enhance the discovery of the notions and is a methaphoric analogy to the little fortune that is to be found in the steets.
Langauges and Handwriting
The authors write down their notions by hand in their respective native languages. (example: fortune-mutluluk/turkish gelukig-afrikaans/ tsuki-japanese / mazal-hebrew). The different generations, too, have their own expression in their writing.
The Piece of Art
that consists of many single parts is created by the community of the people residing in NOB.
Its meaning can be more than the sum of the single parts, because the reading of the signatures opens new spaces of association every day. Misunderstandings can follow if you don’t speak the respective language and have to ask. These debates are intended. The number of the notions is connected with the lucky number three. We hope that the number thirty three that includes the number three two times, prophesies double luck to NOB. It is the luck that arises when I find myself in another person who seemed to be a stranger in the beginning. A reason why we chose a high quality mirror surface for the notions of stainless steel. A second reason is that the colours and the light from the steets are reflected in the notions of fortune and look into the windows of the buildings and hopefully in the hearts of the people.
In „Signature Fortune“, we want to overcome the strangeness and to enforce the social interaction.
